This blog is operated by The Mad Carpenter, aka David Mc Girr.

I graduated from the University of Ulster in 2008 with a degree in Media Studies with a minor in Film Studies. I began this with the intent of creating much more carpentry than I ever did, as a tribute to my late grandfather.

While I may be decent with a saw and chisel, it turns out I’m better suited to wordsmithing. I’ve been writing for many years, first with attempts at screenwriting, TV writing, and currently I ghostwrite for an online social media industry focused publication. Each year I participate in Nanowrimo, a yearly challenge to write 50,000 words in one month. Since publishing chapters from one year’s project, titled WTF America, I’ve decided to publish my Nano each year.

Fiction focuses mostly on dieselpunk dystopia, biography focuses on the experience of a recent immigrant to America. All other materials may appear sporadically.
