I could babble on and on about how Senan and Ruth were fantastic hosts, the poker game was great fun, we drank all the beer and whiskey, midnight pies and losing an argument with a barbed wire fence but the pictures speak for themselves.

The Eve of St. Patrick

T’was the night before St. Pat’s and all through the house,
everyone was stirring, all a bit soused.
With pringles and pretzels, whiskey and wine,
All made merry, all were … a tad plastered and some fella spiked his own drink with LSD while we were all drinking this green vodka punch stuff.

I arrived in a suit, owing to the fact that it was the only clean outfit I had in my wardrobe. I didn’t feel over-dressed, but for some reason everyone else felt under-dressed. Strange how confidence works.

Tomorrow, more drinking. As it’s St. Patricks, which I usually despise, but I’ve got a good feeling about this one.

WATCHMEN!

We went to see watchmen today, and it was proper EPIC. Sin’s pa came out too and we all headed up to the cottage bar. Packed to the gills with folk, so we sat out in the tin roof smoking area during a hail storm. Swung by the voodoo club after that and listened to a kicking band called Hunter

Banging rendition of Sweet Child of Mine, and a smoking hot chick drummer to boot.

Demonstrating the “superman effect”. Superman took off his glasses and looked really different, as do I.

After three weeks, I’m back at home, having a sit down.
Wonderful beef cobbler dinner, a few cans, watching tv with the kin.
It’s nice. The surround sound in the sitting room is buzzing, I have a list of chores to take care of, which include unblocking a toilet.

You know, it’s like I never left.

Still… nice to be home.

February 4th

February 4th. Busy, busy day. Started out getting a lift to a government office so I could sort out my social welfare payments. Soon as I arrived in, I was told that I was in the wrong office. My lift was gone, and I couldn’t afford a taxi (thank you very much social welfare) so I had to walk clear across town to get to the right place. Which was actually the place I had first visited, that told me to go to the other place, across town. Nice job on the crossed wires.

Got everything sorted out though (hopefully) and managed to buy a little clobber for the house with some money mema sent me.

Walked a few miles today. Stopped half way home to have a beer lunch. Nothing like a few pints of harp to sooth your ills.

Sol and Lime

Greetings from the 6th of January here in a freezing cold in Ireland. I spent an hour unblocking the drain outside, and I’ll tell you what, I need a damn beer after that.

The Whitechapel Porter is in honour of Warren Ellis and his Freakangels comic. A Steam Punk tale in post apocalyptic London. It’s currently up to episode 40 and it’s free to everyone. A fine web comic.

Also I’m celebrating a lovely phone call between my girlfriend and I this morning. We shared a beautiful little moment and even though we’re 7000 miles apart, I’ve never felt closer to her.

I’ve got Sol, but I’m not a soldier
…. Ok fine, so I couldn’t resist.
