Hey everybody! You guys remember Kimberlee?

Of course you do, if you know me at all I never shut up about her.
Today, the 12th, is our anniversary. On this day last year, we met in person for the first time.
You can go and look if you want, it’s all there in black and white. And colour. For the pictures…

Anyway today, on our anniversary, with the money for my ticket already sent, we bought my plane ticket.

Didn’t I say that I was going back? Didn’t I say that I’d save up and make it happen?
I saved up, I made it happen and I’m on my way.

So at the end of this year… Year nine I guess since we reset everything. As is the tradition with television and the internet it’s time to make a top ten. So since I haven’t completed ten projects this year (I’m aware that I am not a very productive carpenter) I’m going to pick my ten favourite pictures of this year. As is usual, we shall start at number ten.

What’s not to like about smoking a pipe at a party?

One of many pictures that illustrate how good I look while smoking, and it’s the first time in the year that I shaved my head.

My first Kilt. It shall be one of many one day.

Hallowe’en this year was great fun. It’s a fantastic Irish holiday. I went as one of Mussolini’s boys. Nobody really got it. At least the clothes I was wearing were real clothes, so it’s not like I wore a crappy costume once.

One of the most fun parties ever. Senan casually mentioned that they were dressing up as gangsters… and everybody arrived with fake guns, sharp suits, hats, back stories… it was amazing.

The greatest thing I did in 2009… was visit Kimberlee. I’m going back in 2010.

Mall Tuesday

Went to the mall today, had a wander around, feeling out the ambiance. Sears, JC Penny, wig shop, pet store, knife outlet… the usual.

This is Kimberlee. You may have seen her before. I love her, and it’s very upsetting to leave her. That’s why I’ll be coming back in a few months to see her again. My last day with her hasn’t been anything spectacular, nor has it been thrilling… but it was nice. We had meatloaf for dinner. We made koolaid.

I love you Kimberlee, and I’ll be back in a couple of months.

I’ll be travelling tomorrow, and most likely lasting into Thursday. Keep an eye out for updates mentioning @themadcarpenter on twitter. I’ll try and get someone to update for me. See you all on the other side.

Antiques Monday

Kimberlee and I went for a walk in the centre of Orange today. Wandered around the antiques stores, of which there were a lot. Many of them were closed seeing that it’s Monday, which is fair I guess seeing that most of them are open Saturdays. The places were bleedin’ huge though. Most had basements, and back rooms… massive.

Had a strawberry malt in the oldest business that’s still open in the City of Orange – Watson Drug and Soda Fountain. They’re a drugstore and they have a soda fountain; they don’t have a drug fountain.

Some of the reviewers on that site are really picky. But Watson’s doesn’t have their own site, which is too bad. I really liked the food.

The Mad Carpenter is going to America

Ahh. America. Such a grand word…

I’m flying out to Orange, California at 6am on Thursday the 12th. I’ve wanted to visit America for years and now after a year or being in love with an amazing woman I’m finally doing it.

I fly from Dublin to Amsterdam for a near 2 hour stopover, then I get on the plane and fly to LAX airport in Los Angeles from whence I shall be collected by Kimberlee.

I’ll see Kimberlee at around 1pm local time. I don’t know when I’ll see all of you, but I’ll be taking lots of pictures and posting when I can.

If I don’t update between now and when I get to America, I’ll see you all on the other side. California… Holy Hell.
